Creating a Google Analytics Account

So you have decided upon Google Analytics. Good choice! The first step is to create a Google Account. Even if you already have a Google Account, be sure to read about account caveats.

What is a Google Account?

Users create a Google Account to have access to all of Google’s various applications. You may already have a Google Account, but unless your Google Account is purely for hobby, you should create a new Google Account specifically for your web pages. The reason for this is if you ever to separate from your website, by either leaving your company or selling your website, you cannot separate your Google Account.

Go to accounts.google.com/signup to sign up.

Signing up for Google Analytics

Now that you have a Google Account, you can sign up for Google Analytics. Go to google.com/analytics/ and “sign up”. When upon signing up, you will be asked to create a profile for your website.
